Biography of Sarah Mechum |

Sarah Mechum joined The Roberts Group in February of 2009 as Assistant Director of Government Relations. In this role, Sarah is responsible for a variety of legislative and regulatory issues on the state and federal and international levels, including chemicals management reform, ingredient communication, food safety, customs regulations, occupational safety and health, and green and sustainability issues. She is also a resource for client members on a variety of environmental, health, and safety compliance issues. Before joining TRG, Sarah was Manager of Government Relations with the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA), where she served as the staff liaison for the Environment and Safety & Security Committees. In this position, Sarah was a primary point of contact for SOCMA’s members regarding legislative and regulatory issues affecting the specialty batch chemical manufacturing industry. During her time at SOCMA, Sarah was instrumental in launching and developing its grassroots program as well as organizing their first Washington “Fly In”. Sarah holds a B.A. in Political Communication from The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs, and an M.A. in Political Management from GW’s School of Political Management.
